Once you buy the AMBOSS Step 2 Self-Assessment, it is available for you to start and finish any time (as long as your AMBOSS paid membership is active). You can start and finish it at times that work for you.
You will need a paid AMBOSS membership to answer and review Self-Assessment questions. Create your account here.
You don’t have to take the Self-Assessment right away - you can do it at a time that’s convenient for you.. Note: You will need an AMBOSS membership to answer and review self-assessment questions. If your membership has expired, renew it to continue using the self-assessment.
You will have 4 question blocks, and 60 minutes to complete each question block (if you have a time accommodation for USMLEs, you can also get extended time here). You can split the Self-Assessment up into chunks and take each block at any point. You can also pause the exam, if you need to. That said, we recommend that you complete the exam in one sitting, so you build your test-taking stamina ahead of the real thing.
The Self-Assessment is not available on the mobile apps. Although it is possible to take it on the web browser of your mobile device, we strongly recommend taking it on your desktop device. When you take the real USMLE® Step 2 exam, it’ll be on desktop - so taking the Self-Assessment on desktop is the best way to prepare yourself for exam conditions.
No, these questions are not part of the AMBOSS Qbank and you would not have seen them, even if you have been using AMBOSS over the past few years. You also won't see these questions again, if you continue using the AMBOSS Qbank to prep for Step 2.
After each block, you will be able to review your questions and answers.
Once you fully complete all 4 blocks, you’ll get your Score Report and study recommendations. Your Score Report and answer explanations will be available immediately after you finish the Self-Assessment. You’ll be able to go back and review your Score Report again any time.
