Activity description

  • Purpose: to enhance clinicians' understanding of ultrasound principles, techniques, and key sonographic findings, which can be used in their clinical decision-making
  • Educational objectives 
    • Describe the principles of sonography, the operation of ultrasound equipment, and image optimization across a variety of clinical settings.
    • Recognize and interpret normal and pathological ultrasound findings for key organs and structures.
    • Understand fundamental techniques for performing targeted ultrasound examinations, including abdominal scans, eFAST, thyroid imaging, and compression ultrasound for suspected deep vein thrombosis.

  • Content: CME (continuing medical education) content is developed by a team of physician authors and editors in a standardized process that includes multi-stage peer review. The research sources that are used include up-to-date best practice guidelines and expert recommendations, adhere to accepted standards of scientific evidence, and are fully referenced.   • Method of participation: To earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for this course, all of the following requirements must be met.
    • Complete all modules in the course.
    • Answer at least 70% of the multiple-choice questions in the final quiz correctly.
    • Complete a short evaluation, which will be emailed to you after successfully completing the final question session.

Redeeming credit

CME credit certificates will be issued by email to participants who complete all modules in the course, achieve a passing score on the final multiple-choice question session, and complete a short evaluation questionnaire, which will be emailed to you after successfully completing the final question session.

As an ACCME-accredited organization, AMBOSS will award credit for this activity in the form of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. The AMA has an agreement in place with the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS) that allows physicians from these European countries to convert AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™  into EACCME credits, which is the type that is recognized by the UEMS.
